Superintendent Kristie Medina told the board the district met with consultant FBT to review access controls, camera placement and options for integrating the existing gym into the main building. Medina introduced Matthew Gurkin as the district's new Public School Facilities Authority (PSFA) project manager to assist with those efforts. "The District has a new PSFA Project Manager, named Matthew Gurkin," Medina said.
Board President Jason Phillips reported on a recent walkthrough in Des Moines and noted high utility bills at a newly constructed facility there, saying the district should consider utility costs, including the possibility of solar, during project planning. The board did not vote on facilities projects at the meeting; the item was informational and for future planning.
