Student senate rep: five competitors qualified for state; FCCLA seeks clothing donations and nationals funding

Elias Sandoval, the student senate representative, told the Raton Public Schools board that five competitors have qualified for state-level contests and that 22 affiliated members will attend the state conference. "We have 5 competitors who've qualified to go to state, and we have 22 of our 22 affiliated members going to the state conference," Sandoval said, adding that non-competitors will serve as volunteers.
Sandoval described spring activities and logistics, including a planned March 4 spring sports kickoff and a March 11 blood drive. He said FCCLA is collecting professional clothing—"slacks, button downs, polos, blazers, shoes"—to support members who cannot afford business attire and that the chapter hopes to take members to nationals pending fundraising, noting "We're not sure about that yet. We just have to pay."
