The Claymont City Board of Education voted April 13 to adopt revised daily schedules for the 2026–27 school year and to move the last student day of 2025–26 earlier.
After a discussion with Transportation and Cafeteria Supervisor Eric Henry about bussing for after-school programs, the board approved the new bell schedule: High School 7:40–2:40; Middle School 7:50–2:50; Elementary 8:05–3:05; Primary 8:15–3:15. The superintendent's recommendation was moved by Mrs. Host and seconded by Ms. Campbell; the motion carried on a roll-call vote of members present.
Separately the board approved increasing early-dismissal days from two to three for the current school year and set the last day for students as May 22, 2026. The calendar change was framed by the administration as an operational adjustment to close out the year; Mrs. Host moved the calendar change and Mrs. Wolf seconded, with the board voting unanimously among members present.
The board recorded that these schedule adjustments were discussed in the context of transportation logistics; the administration said it will monitor effects on after-school activities and bussing and return with any needed operational changes.
