During packet review a committee member flagged that the proposed general fund showed $0 for equipment or building improvements. Marie Knight said the general fund does not include capital purchases over $5,000 in this draft and that the district maintains a separate long-term maintenance fund where larger projects would be drawn from.
"We have not budgeted for any capital improvements, anything over $5,000," the business manager said, explaining that day-to-day repairs will continue but larger purchases or remodels are funded from the maintenance fund or scheduled as needed. The presenters also noted limited funds available for major improvements because the district is maintaining an ending fund balance at the policy-required level (about 5.1%).
Committee members asked how sports-field improvements would be handled; presenters said there is no current budget for major field work and that staff would need to reallocate or identify other funding if a project exceeded $5,000.
