During the maintenance report a board member described fire-risk concerns at Mist based on a recent open house inspection: bark-chip ground cover within ten feet of the building, vent openings larger than recommended, and logs close to the structure. The trustee said wildfire-prevention classes recommended at least 30 feet of clear area around buildings and flagged vents that could allow embers to enter.
The superintendent acknowledged the concern and said the items would be added to the maintenance list for remediation. Trustees discussed staged remediation given costs and suggested prioritizing measures that reduce hazard quickly.
