On the recommendation of Superintendent Brian Rentsch, the Claymont City Board of Education accepted resignations and approved a reduction in force (RIF) affecting three employees effective June 30, 2026. The RIF list included Jim Maxwell, Gavin Milburn and Rebecca Gray.
The board also approved hires and assignments for summer and the 2026–27 school year, including Joe Lunsford as a High School Credit Recovery summer tutor (8 days, June 1–11), summer custodian Markie Tarleton (effective June 1, 2026), and one-year limited teaching contracts for Steven Smith (Elementary Music) and Breanna Ehret (High School Art), pending credentials.
