During the public session on June 16, project coordinator Shelly O'Boyle collected board members' indicated preferences for next steps on the consolidation study. Clymer's trustees recorded five votes for pursuing a petition; Sherman trustees recorded four votes in favor of a straw vote; Panama recorded five for petition and one for straw vote. The minutes summarize: "Two districts would like petition and one a straw vote, the resolution to go forward at a July 13th meeting of each board will be continuation tied to a petition."
Superintendent David O'Rourke explained to the assembled boards the practical difference between a nonbinding straw vote and the formal petition process; board members then discussed concerns about community input and the procedural implications of each route. The recorded preferences will be revisited formally at each district's July 13 meeting, where boards are expected to consider a continuing resolution tied to the petition process.
