A high-school administrator outlined plans to expand how students can earn third credits in math or science through Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway courses. She described options such as accounting, computer-integrated manufacturing (SIM), personal finance for math credit, and small/large animal science, environmental science, horticulture and food science for science credit.
A district speaker noted that building principals have the technical authority to create courses but that historical records were limited; the district has begun documenting a formal process for adding 0.333-credit options and brought the board up to speed so it can align with forthcoming New York State guidance. "This is just another flexible way to allow our students, feel comfortable and meet them where they're at to get some science," the presenter said.
