Middle-school 'Period 11' pilot expands; participation rises to 43 students

A school administrator told the Penn Yan Central School District board that the Period 11 after-school intervention pilot has increased participation from 31 students in March to 43 students currently. "This is every day after school Monday through Thursday from 02:30 to 3 where they work with that team of teachers," the presenter said.
The program’s first round required students with course grades below 70% to attend for five weeks; the district now also includes accelerated and enriched students who fall below an 85% threshold to protect placement in advanced classes. The presenter said students who raise their grades can come off the required list, and that data on which students benefited will be shared after the pilot concludes.
