Staff recommends awarding alternates after capital-project bids come in under budget
Summary
Staff reported April 1 bids for the 2026 capital improvement project came in under budget; site work was low, enabling award recommendations and funding alternates (basketball backdrops and middle-school bleachers) and leaving funds to apply to a future playground project.

District staff summarized bids taken April 1 for the 2026 capital improvement project and recommended awarding contracts and alternates where appropriate.
"The it's easy to recommend the award because they came in well under budget, and you're able to award the alternates that were part of the project as well," the presenter said, noting multiple low bidders across general, mechanical, electrical and site trades. As an example, the presenter listed alternates for basketball backdrops and middle-school bleachers that were included because a state contract had not been secured.
Staff reported site work came in low and that the project has funds left over that could be applied to the next job — mentioned as playground work. The board expressed support and asked no substantive follow-up questions during the presentation.
