The Whitehall School District board approved hiring Leanna Rosales as the district’s special education teacher. Superintendent Hannah Eastkins said Rosales currently works in the district (in a para/PERA role), earned a doctorate in education, previously worked for the Oregon State Police, and serves as an adjunct professor at Bushnell University.
A board member asked for clarification on who could make motions for middle-school hires; Eastkins clarified that some board members do not vote on middle-school appointments depending on their role. A motion to hire Rosales was made and seconded and passed by voice vote.
