Pleasanton council authorizes negotiations with Weaver for forensic audit

City staff reported that three firms responded to the request for qualifications for forensic auditing services and recommended Weaver as the top‑ranked firm. Acting City Manager Chambers said the evaluation covered firm and staff qualifications, audit approach, methodology and references.

"Based on the results of the evaluation, staff recommends that the city council select Weaver as the firm for the city's forensic auditing services and authorize the acting city manager to enter into contract negotiations with Weaver," Chambers said. Council voted to direct staff to begin negotiations with Weaver and to return a contract for final council approval. Members discussed the potential scope (one year) and the possibility of expanding the look‑back depending on findings and cost.

Council requested that staff consider whether related governmental entities — such as the local Housing Finance Corporation — should be included in the scope and to return cost estimates when negotiations provide greater clarity.
