District reviews stadium lighting, paving and retaining‑wall estimates under 2024 bond

Claire Saenz of Gallagher Construction presented preliminary designs and cost estimates for projects funded under the 2024 School Project Bond, including stadium and parking lot lighting, extensive paving and a retaining wall near visitor parking. The lighting scope would use existing stadium poles for Lots 1 and 2 with outward‑facing fixtures and require one new pole each for Lots 3 and 4; Saenz estimated the lighting package at about $129,000. The paving estimates included Lot 1 (about 70,000 square feet) at roughly $750,000, Lot 3 at about $550,000 and Lot 4 at about $650,000. Saenz also estimated the retaining wall at $75,000–$100,000.

Trustees did not vote on any of the bond projects at the Aug. 11 meeting. Board members asked staff to reach out to adjacent neighbors about additional lighting, and to return with refined cost estimates. The board also asked Gallagher to provide pricing for two CTE building follow‑ups: installation of large circulation fans and the addition of a low‑level air return to improve ventilation. Saenz said she would return with those costs at the next meeting. Superintendent Dr. Larry Polk thanked Gallagher for the information and said more research was needed on the asphalt and retaining‑wall proposals.

The district complemented the CTE building’s completion; Gallagher noted the remaining punch list items were limited to minor painting touchups. No formal motions or expenditures were approved for the bond projects at this meeting; trustees signaled interest in further study and neighbor outreach before any contract actions.
