Superintendent delivered a report celebrating the district’s successful budget vote and described recent state-level developments that affect the district. He said the district’s passing rate was the highest in more than a decade and recalled an anxious night during budget development: "I went to bed wondering if I was gonna have to find $420,000 the next day."
He told the board the state is increasing foundation aid and advancing universal pre-K (UPK) funding and implementation timelines. He said UPK expansion funding will raise per‑pupil aid (the district previously worked under an expansion grant) and that the state is targeting full availability of a pre‑K seat for every 4‑year‑old by 2028–29. The superintendent also reported the state delayed requirements to begin purchasing only zero‑emission buses from July 2027 to July 2032 and the full transition from July 2035 to July 2040, which he described as a relief given current fleet and funding constraints.
