District to expand CTE, add EMT, barbering, culinary courses and new extracurriculars

The staff member presenting the budget said the district plans to expand career and technical education (CTE) and related programs next year, including an EMT program and renewed construction and trades offerings.
“One of the things for next year is the expanding of the CTE programs, which includes the EMT program we discussed,” the staff member said. The presenter also listed barbering and culinary courses, a new financial literacy component for junior and senior high students, additional world-language electives, and an expansion of ELA for all 11th graders.
On transportation, the presenter said the district is trying to take back more in‑district bus routes as a cost-saving measure and reported two routes were brought back this year with hopes to add one or two more next year. The presenter concluded by noting extracurricular plans to start a golf club and girls wrestling.
