District transportation staff requested permission to dispose of old buses through an online auction platform and to place resulting proceeds into the bus-replacement fund. The packet included a list of vehicles (77-passenger, 90-passenger and special-needs buses) and details about an open-house viewing period and auction schedule.
"The auction will run for 15 days," Mr. Hilton said while describing advertising plans and reserve amounts that will range from $500 to $1,000, and that buyer fees would be charged to purchasers rather than the district. The board voted 5–0 to permit bidding and to use the public-surplus online service; staff said the funds recovered will go back to the bus-replacement account.
