Marion Center Board honors cross country teams and state-winning cheer squad

President Gregg Sacco called the Nov. 18 combined session to order at 7:00 p.m. in the McCreery LGI and invited athletic recognition remarks. High school staff members Mr. Magolis and Tyler Shilling recognized the girls cross country team for an 8‑0 season and noted Brooke Slade’s 9th‑place individual finish; the boys team advanced to the state meet with Seth Boring finishing fourth overall. The board recorded the recognition without formal vote.
Athletic staff also noted that the volleyball and football teams advanced to postseason play. Chris Peters and Ms. Dann‑Payne were named for “exceptional coaching” of the cross country program; Mr. Peters acknowledged the team’s 50th anniversary and thanked the board for its support. The MC Cheerleaders were reported to have taken first place at the Pennsylvania State Cheerleading competition at the Kovalchik Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC) the prior weekend.
