Cross-country headed to Hershey; volleyball, football, wrestling postseason plans highlighted

High-school athletics drew multiple updates at the Oct. 20 work session. Mr. Magolis reported the boys cross-country team and two individual girls qualified for state competition in Hershey on Nov. 1; volleyball is scheduled for District 6 playoffs Oct. 23; junior high football remained undefeated while the varsity finished 8–1 and could create a three-way tie for the Heritage conference title depending on the outcome of the upcoming Friday game. Marion Center entered the D6 playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
The board also recommended approval for the varsity wrestling team to attend overnight tournaments, including the new Heritage Conference Wrestling Championship at Claysburg-Kimmel Dec. 5–6, 2025, and additional competitions Dec. 29–30, 2025 (Southmoreland) and Jan. 23–24, 2026 (West Branch). The athletic department will provide transportation and boosters will provide hotels and meals.
