Board appoints assistant principal and new staff, approves probationary hires

At its June 23 meeting the Valley Stream UFSD 13 Board of Education confirmed several personnel appointments included on the agenda.
Trustee Sabatino moved to appoint Edward Courtney to a four-year probationary appointment as assistant principal beginning July 1, 2026, with certification status listed as School Building Leader and an anticipated probationary expiration date of June 30, 2030; the motion passed by voice vote. The board also appointed Chloe Genasco (special education teacher), Brandon Villanueva (psychologist) and Anna Hoffman (library media specialist), each to four-year probationary appointments with start dates of August 31, 2026.
Trustees welcomed the new hires and recorded approval by voice vote; Human Resources will process the appointments and update personnel files prior to the start dates.
