The Valley Stream Union Free School District 13 Board of Education approved tenure recommendations for a slate of educators during its June 23 meeting.
Trustee Sabatino moved multiple tenure items and principals presented supporting evidence based on classroom observations, portfolio reviews and demonstrated student outcomes. The board approved tenure for Nermien Abelsayed (teacher assistant), Lauren Dooley (speech teacher), Nicole McCormick (special education), Caroline Nichols (classroom teacher), Marissa Nicoletti (special education), Corinna Antonucci (music teacher), and others — all listed in the approved agenda — with effective dates set for Sept. 1, 2026. A board member said of one candidate, "She has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting our students," reflecting principals' descriptions of professional growth and instructional practice.
All tenure motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the education committee consent and subsequent roll calls; the board recorded each approval as part of the evening's consent actions.
