Committee member (S3) presented attendance data on the freshman girls cohort and urged targeted intervention. S3 reported: "There is 27 girls in the freshman class. 12 of them were identified as chronically absent," and said staff will conduct one-on-one outreach, monitor grades and discipline, and consider adding students to Miss Marks' caseload for monthly monitoring.
Board members asked about thresholds for parent conferences and the escalation process; S3 explained the district's truancy letters and meeting steps: at three unexcused absences a letter and call, at five a second letter and call, at six placement in the attendance SAT process, and at seven the matter is referred to the prosecuting attorney if the family does not engage. The board said the group will be a priority at the start of the school year.
