During small-group discussion at the April 20 staff-rep meeting, participants raised concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) in classrooms and asked the board for clearer policy and practical training. Staff said the CESA trainings were useful but also created urgency to address AI; they described a need for consistent district-wide practices and clarified boundaries so teachers are not left to "police" AI use.
Staff suggested using existing device-management practices (for example Chromebook and cellphone policies) as models for consistent classroom practice and recommended clear guidance on what tools are available for teachers and how they can learn to use them. The board acknowledged the concern and noted it was considering how to support staff with policy and training.
