Pilot Point ISD trustees delegate temporary hiring authority to superintendent

The Pilot Point Independent School District Board of Trustees voted June 15 to give Superintendent Dr. Shannon Fuller authority to approve all employee contracts from June 15 through Aug. 31, 2026, a temporary extension the board said is intended to help recruitment during the peak hiring season.

Board member Craig Bickers moved, "I move to APPROVE granting the Superintendent authority to approve all employee contracts between June 15, 2026, and August 31, 2026," a motion seconded by Lora Renfro that passed unanimously, 6–0. The board minutes record that the delegation follows Board Policy DC (Local), which ordinarily reserves final hiring authority to the board while allowing the superintendent limited delegation for classroom teachers during June–August; the extension approved on Monday applies to all contractual positions for the specified period.

Superintendent Dr. Shannon Fuller told trustees the extension is meant to ensure the district can recruit and secure "highly qualified personnel" during peak hiring. The district indicated that any contractual personnel hired under the delegation will be reported to the full Board at its next regular meeting. No additional conditions or dollar amounts were attached to the motion in the minutes.
