Watonga board approves superintendent's contract

The Watonga Board of Education on Dec. 8 unanimously approved a contract for Kyle Hilterbran to serve as superintendent of Watonga School. Aaron Clewell moved to approve the contract and Dwight McGee seconded; the motion carried 5–0.
The board entered executive session earlier in the evening under state law to discuss the superintendent's evaluation and contract. Per the minutes, the motion to enter executive session was made "pursuant to 25 O.S. Section 307 (B) (1) for the following specific purposes: A. Discuss Superintendent Evaluation B. Discuss Superintendent Contract." The board returned to open session at 10:00 p.m., and Minutes Clerk Doris Ware reported that personnel had been discussed and that no votes or minutes were taken while in executive session. The contract approval vote was taken after the return to open session.
