The board recognized Matthew English on July 13 after Ms. Lisa Asashon introduced him for his participation in the National SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta, where he presented a car-seat-safety demonstration and advanced to the second round. Matthew placed 12th nationally and told the board "it wasn't about winning, but the experience."
Board members noted the achievement at the committee and regular meetings; Matthew will be a senior in the coming school year and could compete again for a national placing. No board action was required; the recognition was recorded in the minutes.
