Board members discussed whether to revamp the superintendent evaluation process and agreed to hold a work session before the September board meeting to review OSBA guidance and possible alternative evaluation formats.
The board noted that OSBA has suggestions for superintendent evaluations and that any change should be reviewed by a small working group. The board also agreed that new directors should receive required training: three members (Marsha, Kayla and Sharon) were tentatively scheduled to attend the summer OSBA conference in Salem, and the board agreed to skip the larger annual convention this year in favor of a local training or retreat.
Members emphasized that the evaluation process should provide clearer guidance for evaluating superintendent performance and considered involving additional stakeholders if the board changes the evaluation format.
