Coquille music teacher reports surge in band participation and return of winter concert

Coquille Valley Elementary’s music program reported stronger participation this year, and students performed a short excerpt for the board.
"This is only the 2nd year of band, as most of you know," the music teacher, Emma Rostegas, said. "The numbers in band have almost doubled." Rostegas said the group held a winter concert this year that went "really, really well" and credited students and helpers for their work.
Rostegas described growth in choir and band participation and said the program helps build community similar to a sports team. Trustees responded with appreciation after the performance.
