Coquille school board swears in two new directors, elects Marsha Cross chair

The Coquille School District board of directors swore in two new members at the start of its meeting and then moved to organize leadership for the 2025–26 year.
During the oath of office the board administered and witnessed the pledge of office for Kayla Pritchard and Sharon Nelson; each signed the oath form. After the swearing, the board nominated and elected Marsha Cross as board chair for the coming year. A voice roll call taken by members concluded with assent and the chair selection was confirmed.
Board members then filled the vice chair position and set committee assignments for facilities and policy. A board member thanked the outgoing leadership and praised the chair’s recent efforts, saying, "I just appreciate all the time that you have put in in the last couple of months with negotiation, mediation." The board agreed to keep regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, with no scheduled regular meetings in August or December.
The board also tentatively named attendees for the summer OSBA training and agreed to add a work session to review superintendent evaluation procedures before the September meeting. The board voted on a consolidated motion that approved the chair and vice chair nominations, the meeting schedule, committee memberships, and conference attendance for those listed.
