Trustees approve electrical and site work for intermediate modular classrooms; PEC transformer schedule noted

Trustees approved the district's recommended electrical and site modifications to support new modular classrooms at the intermediate campus, with administration and the contractor describing the scope and contingencies.

Jennifer (speaker 13), the provider representative, walked trustees through the work: installing underground conduits, placing a rack for the PEC transformer connection and preparing electrical feeds so that PEC can tie power into the district's system once the transformer arrives in June. She emphasized the work excludes the PEC transformer itself, which PEC will design and install. "This will get it ready. So when PEC comes in, we're ready for them to go ahead and tie power in," she said.

Trustees asked about contingency sizing for PEC design changes; administration noted a PEC contingency was included and that the district's electricians have met on site with PEC. After discussion the board moved and approved the project; the administration said the district will prepay as needed to secure PEC scheduling and that much of the contractor's work is done in‑house, which helped keep costs down.

Why it matters: The electrical work is a prerequisite for the modular classrooms to operate and is tied to external PEC scheduling; delays or design changes by PEC could affect timing and contingency costs.
