The Lincoln Public Schools ceremony included a lengthy recognition of retiring employees, which the chair (speaker 1) said represent a combined 496 years of service to the district. Officials read names and years of service for retirees who could not attend and invited several longtime staff to the podium for tributes.
Technology director Mark Gadowitz was singled out for overseeing the district’s shift from desktops to Chromebooks and for securing grants that funded technology investments; the chair praised his role in expanding CTE programs. Tom Fiola (speaker 2) delivered a tribute to Kathy, an administrative assistant in facilities/security/transportation who joined the district in 1995 and was praised for professionalism and problem-solving. Principals and school staff — including Janet Malmgren, Kylene Gilroy (teacher of the year nominee), Roy Boudreau, Jennifer Cameron and others — received remarks that highlighted mentorship, program leadership and long service.
Officials invited retirees and family members forward to receive thanks from the board and district administrators; no personnel actions or budgetary changes were announced during the recognitions.
