Commission schedules UDO workshop; impact-fee study to follow in September

Commissioners set a workshop for August 6 to review sections of the Unified Development Ordinance ahead of an August 18 meeting where the commission will vote on recommending the UDO. Commissioners and staff said portions of the UDO rewrite are being finalized by consultants and that a clean draft would be shared before the workshop if possible.

Members also discussed the county’s impact-fee study, which staff and the consultant now plan to present to the commission in September so the commission can review scope, data and proposed fee areas. Several commissioners expressed frustration with scheduling delays, consultant availability and how the moratorium’s timeline interacts with the study’s schedule. Staff said it would coordinate with administration and the consultants to try to accelerate sessions but cautioned availability constraints. The commission instructed staff to circulate links to the current UDO draft and to proceed with an August 6 workshop at 5 p.m. to walk commissioners through sections that are complete.
