Chair says she will step back from PrideFest organizer role; commission to document responsibilities

Chairperson Brianna Bloom Scudera told commissioners she will not continue serving as festival organizer after this year and will prepare a list of tasks the role currently requires. Scudera emphasized the difference between the chair (a meeting role) and the organizer (a year‑round function that has effectively become a full‑time job for volunteers).

"I will document what I've been doing over the last year and a half...there is a conflation of chairperson...organizer, which probably should be a full time paid position or taken over by another person," Scudera said, and she asked commissioners to consider who would oversee tasks such as grant submissions, contract reviews and grant reporting. Commissioners suggested pairing up on responsibilities or shifting some duties to the Chamber or city staff to avoid volunteer burnout. The chair will bring a proposed task list to the next meeting for discussion.
