At the policy committee first reading Superintendent (S6) reviewed a set of policy edits including deletion of an obsolete policy, minor wording changes recommended by OSBA and a rescind of certain administrative rules (ARs) tied to recent federal changes in discrimination and complaint procedures. He said the district would return the ARs to prior versions as OSBA requested until updated guidance is available.
"We're rescinding administrative rules that we most recently voted on and accepted," Superintendent (S6) said, explaining the change is an OSBA directive tied to federal updates. Board members asked how complaints will be processed in the interim; Superintendent (S6) said the policy itself remains, and the district will follow the complaint procedures in policy while ARs are adjusted.
The board treated the item as a first reading and reserved further discussion for the policy committee and subsequent board action. Superintendent (S6) also described a planned multi-month policy-review effort to update older entries in the policy book and converge on consistent citations.
