Planning commission forwards updated comprehensive plan to council, sets short comment window

Planning staff presented an updated draft of the Jefferson Hills comprehensive plan that incorporates prior commission and Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) comments. Jenny told the commission she would put the draft online and initiate formal review by Allegheny County, neighboring municipalities and the school district, and suggested a 45‑day minimum public-review period. "The planning commission makes recommendation, and then when council's comfortable with setting it up for public review, Council will consider comments received from the county, from surrounding municipalities, from the school district, from residents of this community," Jenny said.

Commissioners discussed whether to allow a brief additional window for last-minute comments from members; Tom moved that the commission recommend the plan as written while allowing one week for any remaining comments to be submitted to staff for inclusion. The motion passed by voice vote. Jenny said she would gather answers to items raised by members (including project specifications requested by Tom) and distribute them to the commission with a reminder of the deadline.
