During reports the board reviewed financial and facilities concerns affecting the district budget. Treasurer/financial report author Tara Garratt provided figures in the board materials; Board member Carol Hacherl observed the ending fund balance (EFB) was over $1 million in January but is now lower and asked for clarity on the change. Superintendent Aaron Miller explained differences between estimated costs and actuals and said the needed repair to the fire suppression system is a major factor.
IT Director Rusty Raymond described difficulties repairing the DWS reader board and noted exposure to the elements is contributing to hardware failure. Board members expressed concern about the expense and asked Miller to investigate options; trustee Bob Brown suggested evaluating a financial-tracking tool he saw at an OSBA conference to improve transparency and monitoring of EFB changes.
