Pacific High moves to expand online course catalog and Friday electives aiming for 'magnet' status

Pacific High School Principal DeAnna Williams updated the board on efforts to expand online course offerings and Friday electives and said her goal is to make Pacific High a magnet school. Williams introduced new counselor Pamela Whitley-Dickson and described student-led review work: students examined descriptions and ratings for online offerings, created a preferred-program list, and provided input used to shape a rubric and catalog.
Student representative M.J. Lewis described the student review process and said that Friday electives now include work experience, culinary and ceramics, which has increased Friday attendance. Williams said the catalog will be developed and posted online so families can see available course options and students can make informed selections.
