Three Oaks to identify remaining lead service lines under GLO program with EGLE, Globe States

Manager Faulkner told Council the Village will begin identifying remaining lead service lines in coordination with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) and Globe States under the GLO (Get the Lead Out) program. Residents will receive information before any inspections begin, and authorized personnel conducting inspections will be issued Village identification badges.

Faulkner said the Village will provide information to residents prior to inspections and that the work ties into the Capital Improvement Plan and the ongoing water/sewer committee work. Councilors asked follow-up questions at the public comment period about timing and how resident access would be handled during the separate South Elm Street reconstruction; Faulkner and Rudd said inspections and construction will be phased to maintain resident access.

Why it matters: identifying and documenting remaining lead service lines is a prerequisite to planning replacements and to accessing certain state or federal funding streams; the village will notify residents in advance of inspections.
