The South Williamsport Area School Board on June 23 adopted the 2025–26 General Fund final budget with budgeted revenues of $22,977,506 and budgeted expenditures of $23,149,937, a plan that includes a 0.25 mill increase in the district's real estate tax rate.
Board member Bukeavich moved to approve the budget; Brigandi seconded and a roll call vote carried with all members voting yes. The board then approved a tax levy resolution supporting the budget that sets real estate taxes at 19.35 mills, the earned income tax at 1.1% and the realty transfer tax at 0.5%.
As part of tax-setting actions, the board approved the 2025 Homestead and Farmstead Exclusion at an assessed value of $21,417, which the district notes calculates to a $414.42 tax credit for qualifying properties. The budget and levy votes were taken as formal motions with roll-call tallies recorded in the official minutes.
The district’s budget now moves to implementation for fiscal year 2025–26; board members did not amend spending line items during the meeting. Public comment during the meeting included concerns related to athletics and parental involvement, discussed separately by the board.
