The Marion Center Area School Board voted April 14 to approve Master Agreement B221-2018 with HHSDR to design and oversee retaining wall replacement, new stairs to the fieldhouse and handicap access to the McCreery Elementary playground. The motion, presented by Buildings & Grounds Director Mr. Kirkland, carried 8–0 with one absence.
Separately the board approved capital purchases including a HS band room air-conditioning unit from APR Supply Co. for $8,597.41, a tractor from West Central Equipment for $8,172.07 and classroom flooring replacements from Carol's Carpet World estimated at $31,000. The board also authorized HHSDR to solicit bids for a wall and sidewalk project and approved Young & Associates to solicit bids for a fencing project that will be partially funded by a PCCD school safety grant. Each motion passed unanimously (Aye: 8; Nay: 0; Abstain: 0; Absent: 1).
Board members discussed the projects as part of routine capital maintenance and safety improvements; project design, bidding and timelines were delegated to the district's contracted firms for procurement and construction scheduling. The board did not set specific construction start dates during the meeting.
