Brooke Slade of 284 Marcoline Rd told the Marion Center Area School Board during general citizens' comments that she had consumed food from a school breakfast cart that was moldy and that the consumption triggered an allergic reaction that resulted in a visit to the emergency room. She said she has a penicillin allergy and urged the board to ensure staff monitor the freshness of food served from breakfast carts.
The meeting minutes record Slade's statement but do not include a response from district staff or any immediate action by the board. The comment was made at the start of the March 24, 2025 Voting Session; the board proceeded with its agenda items after public comment. The board did not schedule follow-up public reporting on the issue during the session.
