Council authorizes planner support for data-center ordinances and civil-service testing; residents press for transparency

Springdale Borough Council voted to authorize the potential use of John Trant at Strategic Solutions, Inc., as a borough planner to assist in drafting ordinances related to the data center if needed. The council also authorized the Civil Service Commission to advertise and administer civil-service testing for the police department. Both motions were recorded as carried on motions by Dolly Stephens and seconds by Dan Copeland.

During public comment, resident Matt Lang specifically requested a borough planner be engaged for the data-center matter. Other residents raised transparency concerns: Devon McCullum asked about posting reports online and referenced a recent arrest at a public meeting; Katelynn Mueller said questions are never answered and also referenced the recent public-meeting arrest.
