Superintendent reports steady enrollment, new hires and expanded college-credit classes

Superintendent presented the end-of-year report, saying the district finished the year with 565 students, nearly unchanged from the 568 reported on the first day of school.
The superintendent announced several hires to fill openings caused by retirements and transfers: Logan Terry (band), Sydney Brie (English/history), Kristen Charlesworth (high-school English) and Heidi White (high-school band). He said adding Heidi White will allow the district to offer calculus and precalculus for the first time for college credit through Central Washington University; he also said Kristen Charlesworth already has credentials to continue offering college credit through Eastern College.
The superintendent thanked staff who organized end-of-year events and noted three retirees — Kip Sims, Parish Reedy and Larry Hardy — who together accounted for many decades of service. Board members responded with appreciation and noted the district's continued focus on college-in-the-classroom opportunities.
