Following several budget workshops in July and August, the Trenton City Council opened a public hearing on ad valorem taxes and adopted the proposed 2021–22 budget. Councilmember Lew Donaghey moved to approve the budget as proposed; the motion passed by majority vote. The council also adopted Ordinance 551 setting the city tax rate at $0.691440 per $100 valuation (comprised of M&O $0.521389 and debt $0.170051).
Budget sessions reviewed outstanding debt and capital needs, including a 2019 capital lease (backhoe), financing for police camera equipment and the 2021 Tahoe capital lease. The minutes record staff presentations, recommended debt service schedules, and the council’s vote to adopt the budget and tax ordinance after the required public hearing.
