AfterZone director updates board on program changes; extracurricular drug-testing partnership described

AfterZone Director Karmen Morse presented information about changes to the district's AfterZone after-school and summer program, telling the board how recent adjustments have affected participation and program finances. Dr. Dan Endorf shared preliminary expense and revenue figures related to the program.

Separately, Mr. Yilk reviewed extracurricular activity revenues and participation numbers and, together with two representatives from Cozad Hospital, described the district's protocol for random drug testing. The parties discussed the ability to re-test an original specimen sample, the thresholds for a positive test, and the respective roles of the hospital and the school in administering and responding to results. Board members did not take formal action on the program at the meeting.
