The administrator reported operational updates at the August Transit Commission meeting, including recent ridership and staffing efforts and a permit delay that is slowing on-the-road training.
The administrator said, verbatim, “I have 3024 3524 rides in July.” The same speaker also reported, “We are training our new full time person,” and explained there is “difficulties getting the permit” needed for that employee to complete driving training. The administrator added staff are “working through that right now.”
Commissioners asked follow-up questions about hiring and whether a part‑time driver was still needed; the administrator confirmed the part‑time position remains open and said recruitment has been limited so far. The administrator described at least one recent applicant who did not appear for a scheduled interview: “I had an interview set up for last Friday and no show.”
Looking ahead, the administrator said budget season has begun and that staff will work with a colleague, Emily, to assemble the agency’s budget proposal, noting the organization is “pretty stable on our budget.”
