PECO main replacement to close Providence Road starting March 9; detours planned through July

Borough engineer Kevin Matson told council that PECO will begin a main replacement project on Providence Road on March 9, 2026, and that the project is expected to conclude July 16, 2026. Matson said Danella Construction, a PECO contractor, will perform the work and that detour plans have been submitted to PennDOT.

"Work is expected to begin on 03/09/2026... The project is expected to be completed 07/16/2026," Matson said. He advised businesses and homeowners the work will require posted no-parking zones in the work area and that residents should heed posted detour signage and schedules.

Matson also said the borough is coordinating with PECO to avoid repeated street work — for instance, aligning paving and borough projects so streets are torn up only once. He encouraged affected homeowners to respond promptly to scheduling requests from PECO so service laterals and meter installations can proceed and not delay the project.

Council members asked clarifying questions about timing and staging; Matson said the schedule came from PECO and that the borough will report monthly updates to council and at the transportation committee.
