Board approves Guaranteed Maximum Price amendment for Navarro South Elementary project

At its Dec. 15 meeting the Navarro Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price amendment for the Navarro South Elementary School construction project and delegated authority to the superintendent to finalize negotiation and execution of the amendment in consultation with legal counsel. The motion was made by Superintendent Joel Frederick and seconded by Trustee Clint Scheib; the board recorded a 6-0 vote in favor.

The board was briefed that Bartlett Cocke will begin mobilization and public‑infrastructure sitework for Navarro South Elementary and that the City of Seguin committed to having permit documents approved by Dec. 31, with a target groundbreaking of Jan. 29. The motion included authorization for the superintendent to negotiate final terms of the GMP amendment and to execute the amendment in a form approved by the board’s legal counsel.

Project managers reported related work across district campuses, including chiller replacement at the existing high school and ongoing refresh and bidding schedules for intermediate and elementary campus work. The board did not amend the GMP motion at the meeting and deferred contractor scoring and final contract awards to later board action following procurement processes.
