The Towanda Area School District Board of Education elected Matt Tavani as board president and Scott Hauser as vice president during its reorganizational meeting on Dec. 3, 2024. The board voted unanimously on both positions; the minutes record a 9-0 vote for the president and a 9-0 roll-call result for vice president. Brady Finogle was chosen as temporary chair to run the reorganization portion of the meeting.
The nominations were handled during the reorganizational proceedings after the regular session recessed at 6:01 PM. Brooks Greenland nominated Matt Tavani for president; with no other nominations, the board voted and elected Tavani 9-0. For vice president, Matthew Wheeler nominated Brooks Greenland and Brooks Greenland nominated Scott Hauser; a roll-call vote produced nine votes for Hauser and none for Greenland, electing Hauser 9-0. After the election of president, Matt Tavani resumed the chair.
The reorganizational votes set officers and authorized the board to proceed with committee and representative appointments that followed. The reorganizational meeting adjourned at 6:09 PM and the regular session resumed at 6:10 PM.
