The Towanda Area School District board reviewed and approved a group of contracts and proposals covering facilities, software and student services at its May 11 work session. The package included an agreement with Illuminated Integration for security system upgrades and software; DaRTS software licensing with BLaST Intermediate Unit #17 for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027; HVAC repair proposals from BSC Mechanical, Inc.; upgrades at Towanda High School from Mountain Lake Construction Pro, LLC; Arbiter facilities scheduling services for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027; and a regional wide area network service agreement with BLaST IU #17 for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029. The board also approved a letter of agreement with Northern Tier Counseling, Inc. for child/adolescent partial hospitalization services for 2026–27 and an occupational therapy services agreement with Just 4 Kids covering July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028.
Superintendent Erick Cummings described teacher feedback about the proposed ELA adoption and said "Overall consensus was favorable, at this point, for the CKLA program." The board approved CKLA (Amplify, 3rd Edition, 2026) as the Grade 3–6 ELA curriculum under a five‑year agreement at a cost of $121,201.82. Board members asked operational questions about specific invoices and moisture mitigation in the high school weight room; Business Manager Brian Driscoll explained the construction process and said moisture must be removed to protect equipment. Driscoll also explained that Arbiter is being used for facilities scheduling.
