The Towanda Area School District Board of Education voted May 11 to advertise the 2026–27 Proposed Final Budget under Option 3, a 2% tax increase, to satisfy the legal 30‑day advertising requirement ahead of the June board meeting. Business Manager Brian Driscoll told the board that "we need to advertise for no less than 30 days to post the Proposed Final Budget." Brady Finogle made the motion to approve the advertisement and display; Matthew Wheeler seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as 6‑0‑0 with three members absent.
Driscoll told the board that several building projects will require funding and he recommended reserving additional dollars for immediate upgrades in the coming fiscal year. The board received a handout outlining multiple budget options and discussed that the 2% increase could be scaled back if the Governor's budget allocates additional aid to their district. The advertisement starts the required public‑notice timeline; final adoption will be taken up in a later public meeting after the 30‑day posting period.
